Hi. I have had a corn snake as a classroom pet for 6 years. it was a very educational and enriching experience for all my students. my school was closed last year, and i was transfered to another school in the same system. my new principal just told me that i cannot have the snake in the classroom due to an email from a parent. she also said there was a state law prohibiting animals in school. i cannot find such a law for connecticut. i told her that it never was a problem before in my old school. she said it was a problem for her. does anyone have any advice on how i should proceed? i really want to keep the snake in my room. any good sources to quote? any precidents to refer? anything?
B'orok Obama Hello, Susan this is the president. In the law it is legal to have a pet snake in your class as long it is not poison. If you have any problems please call me at 778-065-5548

Wow! Susan! Wow, your corn snake just got a presidential pardon! I do hope you can keep your snake. I think snakes are great pets for the classroom (non-poisonous of course) and kids need to learn the importance of snakes in our eco-systems. You rock!
