Sometimes peer revision and editing works better than self-
editing because the writer is "too close" to the content.
Peer editing involves careful communication techniques so
that the author's content is not attacked. Usually, we pose
questions such as, "Have you thought about..."
Sometimes my authors are asked to read aloud to a peer. Oral
reading brings a multi-sensory awareness to the author, and
the author will be able to hear, see, and say his/her words
until fluency is reached. Corrections can be made on-the-spot.
Rereading is an excellent strategy.
