My nephew sent me a Flat Stanley a few years ago. He had sent it to
me in a manilla envelope with instructions to cross my name off the
list of five and send it on to the next person on the list. I was to
tell about Flat Stanley's visit to my town/area and sent that info on
to him at his school. Each person on the list was to do the same.
The teacher had instructed them to try to send their "Stanley" to
different areas so they could learn about a lot of different parts of
the country. I had a ball...being a kindergarten teacher! I plan to
do this with my own class in the fall. We will keep track of the
info we receive and plot the responses on our map of the United
States. When I did the one for my nephew, I took lots of pictures of
activities, industry, etc. in my area and made a book.
