Post: Any California Desert Teachers out there?
I'm looking one more, preferably 4th grade, classroom
in the California Desert region who would be interested in
hosting a Traveling Mascot for one month during the
2009-2010 school year. We already have one classroom from
the coastal region, mountain region, and Central Valley
region. This project will help our students gain a better
understanding of each of the regions in California.
The bulldog would spend one month in your region of
California. Your class would be responsible for writing in
his journal, collecting souvenirs such as travel brochures,
and providing as much information about your region as
possible to help us better understand the wonderful state in
which we live in.
As the teacher, your duties would include shipping
our Travel Buddy to his next location as well as
posting photographs/journal entries on our user-friendly
wiki page during the mascot's visit. The wiki page will be
updated regularly giving your classrooms the opportunity to
learn about the other regions and track the bulldog's travel
as well.
When the bulldog arrives, he will come with postcards and
other pieces of information about the Coastal region, his
journal, and a small gift for each of your students.
This is a very exciting project for the kids and all those
involved need your 100% commitment. The project would start
in September in my class which is in Anaheim, CA (A Coastal
Region) and then move throughout the year to a different region.
I'd love to have this set up before school starts in
September. Feel free to email me with any questions. I
hope you'll join us.
