ersonally, I love webquests. I use them in various ways, usually in the area of Social Studies since I teach 5-8 Social Studies for half of my day.:

I use them to introduce units by having them do background investigations.

I will ask questions and give them three links to explore to see which link best answers the question. They then explain why.

Often they will do a webquest that results in a finished product to share with their classmates.

I have even had my older students work in small groups to design a webquest to share with the rest of their class.

I like webquests because if done properly, it is self-directed learning within the parameters I have set up.

How do you use webquests in your classrooms? Do you have a favorite?

Sherry Also where in the school do you have students work on the webquest? I have only three computers in my classroom and we don't have a dedicated computer lab or teacher. Any ideas on how I could make this work best for my third graders? Sherry 3 On 6/09/11, Cheryl wrote: > On 6/09/11, wig wrote: >> I have never used it on an I-Pad. the one we...See More

wig You've gotten some great advise. Webquests can also be done in small groups of two or three. If you google "third grade webquests" you will be amazed at how many examples will show up
