You'll want to look at the Anchorage School District site
instead of DOE if you're thinking Anchorage. Each district
handles it differently. Seems like there's always a shortage
of good subs but the pay is lousy. $120/day at the beginning
of the year until you sub 20 days and then it goes up to $140.
Long-term subs need certification and are paid more and maybe
even get benefits (not sure).
