Basically there are two ways... One, you can go get a one year
M.A.T. degree (Master of Arts in Teaching) or an M.Ed. and also
get paid at a master degree level salary when you are done. Or,
two, go the Non-Traditional licensing route in which you start
teaching and take classes to learn HOW to teach all at the same
time (summers and Saturdays). If you are going to teach a
subject considered a 'shortage area' (critical need), like math
or science (see the list on the website), then you are more
likely to find a position and a school willing to accept you as
a 'Non-traditional hire'. Those critical job openings are also
most likely to be in the Delta counties...
