    Re: Can anyone offer advice

Achievement First charter schools are operated in Hartford,
Bridgeport, etc. Basically in the hardest urban districts to
teach in. They do a good job, but I know for myself, with 20
years of experience, I am not cut out to teach students from
some of the toughest environments in the state. I have
compassion, etc, but it takes a tougher kind of teacher, and I
am just too sensitive and would be depressed for my students.
(I had a colleague who moved to teach in Harlem - talented
teacher- and it broke her heart.) Are you experienced teaching
in an urban, poverty, crime ridden district?
