    I attended grad school in Fairfield County, and nearly everyone
    I went to school with who was in the elementary program is
    either still looking for a job or returned to school to get
    certified in another subject area.

    Nothing against Fairfield County -- I used to live there
    myself. Certainly it's not impossible to get a job there, but
    my point is that it is not a good idea to limit oneself. So
    many job openings go to people who are already in the system or
    know someone.

    I just see too many teachers who only want to work in suburban
    districts and end up with nothing. Elementary is very
    competitive all over the state.

    My advice is to be flexible. There are good districts all over
    the state, sometimes in places you wouldn't expect :)
