Post: Special Education- Preschool
Posted by Natalie on 9/27/05
Hi, I am currently in my first year of the M.Ed SPED
program at UH Manoa. I am considering taking a job next
semester on an emergency hire basis until I finish my
degree but am wondering if it is a bad idea to skip the
student teaching part of the degree. I don't plan on moving
off the island anytime soon but if I do ever want to teach
on the mainland I don't want lack of student teaching to be
a problem. Also, I know the shortage of SPED teachers is
critical but how plentiful are PRE-K jobs? That is my
preference, and I know a position is coming up soon. So my
dilemma is, take a job now in my grade preference where I
know and like the school or finish my student teaching and
hope my grade preference is available? Is there a way to
see the list of available jobs if I don't have access to
the DOE server? Thanks so much for any help! Natalie
