I would appreciate your input. I have a possible job (professorship) at UH-Manoa and am wondering if anyone has worked there or gone to school there and would be able to give me their thoughts and feelings about it. Also, I am a mainlander and I have read many posts on Internet boards about haoles (forgive me if I am spelling this wrong) and the fact that they are often not welcomed by the locals. My concern is that I look very white - extremely pale, blonde, blue eyes - you get the picture and these posts have scared me to be honest. I am a person who has lived all over the world - europe, africa, asia (Philippines, Hong Kong) and has never had a problem with the overt rascist comments (I respect and value all cultures and do my best to not offend others with my words/actions) that I have read about on the net but I would like to hear other perspectives of those living there.
