I am a teacher in Pennsylvania, but a few months ago I was at
a job fair held at one of the universities here in Pa. There
was a representative there from Hawaii trying to recruit
teachers to work there. I spoke with her and she told me
that they recruit heavily out of Pennsylvania due to the
amount of teachers that are certified in the state (it is
extremely competitive to get a job in PA, so many of the new
teachers end up leaving the state to find jobs elsewhere).
From what I remember the woman telling me, the state of Hawaii
does not require its teachers to be certified. So if you are
certified and have a masters degree I'm sure it would be easy
to obtain a job in Hawaii. Also having "teacher of the year"
on your resume will definitely help.
