I moved to New Orleans a year or so ago and figured I wouldn't have
a problem finding a teaching job, seeing as how I had 6 years
experience and a master's degree. Turns out experience and advanced
degrees are a bad thing here. As a previous poster mentioned, many
districts "reserve" spots for Teach for America students. AND the
district only has to pay half their salary. TFA pays the other half.
I'd definitely do some research on your area before making any big
decisions.
