Just took the Art Praxis II content knowledge, Here are a
few good areas to study/ know that i never would have
thought of:
1. Local color: definition
2. Crackling Batik: definition + use
3. Ceramic Plasticity levels (compare + contrast)
in specific which is the most plastic: earthenware,
terracotta, porcelain, or
stoneware.
4. if you are unfamiliar with ceramics terms and techniques
i suggest checking out the book : "Ceramics, a world guide
to traditional techniques" by Bryan Sentance. This is a
very large picture based book with descriptive visuals that
covers techniques, tools, and types of clay. It is a pricey
large book , so check your local libraries. That is where i
borrowed my copy from. It was immensely helpful.
5. Formalism: definition
6. Compare and contrast artistic teaching types
7. Burin: Definition
8: know the difference between miniatures and maquettes and
the mediums used for each
9. artist Nam June Paik: known for video art
10. assemblage: know what type of art this is and key
artists
11. cold press vs. hot press paper: Which has rougher
surface
12. Artist William Blake: know what time period (romantic)
artistic style, ect
13. Know and be able to compare and contrast your art
principals vs. elements
14. know the key tools used in woodblock printing: ex. a
bevel IS used!
15. Know that artist Donetello made : Agony in the Garden
16. know key concepts of Assyrian sculpture
17. wedgewood: know the style and what it looks like
18. Taj Mahal: know what it is used for (mausoleum) and key
architectural elements
19. Great Mosque of spain: know architectural elements:
20. depth of field is controlled by : aperature (double
check me)
21. collegraph: definition
22. know your parts of a loom: Wart, waft, ect
23. mexican mural movement: know when, who, and why
