It is possible you could land a position--but I don't think this is a position for starting teachers. You will be teaching in the worst environment in the country. rampant crime, corruption, administrative apathy, drugs everywhere... I live in Louisiana--I don't go anywhere near the recovery district--I try to stay out of New Orleans all together. You will have a classroom of illiterate students. I don't mean kids that struggle with reading, I mean illiterate. The parents frequently have only a 4th grade education--and none of these kids have fathers. Teachers have been assaulted, shot at, robbed, etc. The state simply wants to throw a warm body (you) into the classroom and forget about it. Don't expect support of any kind. So know what you are getting into. I recommend finishing your exams and internship, and then applying somewhere else.
