Re: Paul Pastorek wants to put violent students back in scho
Posted by bewildered on 4/09/08

Hmmmmm. I think I already gave you an answer. You just don't like
it. Here is what I want.

    1. Superintendents should have the option to permanently remove the
most violent and disruptive and dangerous students from their
classrooms, even from alternative classrooms. A student who is a
serious threat to harm other students or to harm teachers or to
seriously and repeatedly disrupt the education process should not be
in a public school. I'm surprised that you have a problem with that
concept. Apparently, though, you and Mr. Pastorek do have a problem
    with that.

    2. Such students should be turned over to the juvenile justice system
and/or social services system. They should do whatever those systems
decide is most appropriate for the student on a case by case basis.

I firmly believe school officials should have the right and authority
to protect the safety and basic human rights of children from the very
few students who are excessively dangerous or disruptive. Sometimes
you do have to leave a child behind. Otherwise you might cause
    irrevocable harm to other children.

Are you willing to risk the life of a child by sitting the child in a
classroom next to a student who has proven to be extremely dangerous?
    Apparently so.
