Hi Shena. I relocated to New Orleans last summer. I was
immediately offered 4 jobs at 4 different charter schools, and
accepted what seemed to be the most promising. I liked the
idea of charter schools, and was very excited. Having taught
for 17 years in urban Atlanta, I thought I could teach
anywhere, but nothing could have prepared me for what I faced
each day at my school. After 3 months of pure agony, I started
looking at public schools, and now have a wonderful position
in Jefferson parish. Be sure to visit any school you are
considering. Had I done this, I would have saved myself 3
months of heartache! On a lighter note, I love my new city
with all my heart! I easily found and bought an adorable home,
and really enjoy exploring all of the different neighborhoods.
