I have multiple licenses at varying levels. Getting a
preliminary license is as easy as passing the MTEL and applying
for the license. To advance it to the initial level, there are
a few options - do a college program that includes student
teaching (300 hours), do a district program that your district
offers, or pay Class Measures $2,500 to evaluate you and your
portfolio. For Class Measures, you need to be employed for 3
consecutive years in your job and that will be used as your
"student teaching." There's no other way. From what I
understand, subsequent initial licenses do not require 300
hours. I thought it was lower, like 100 hours.
