Post: Moving to Maine
Posted by Elisa on 11/17/07
Hi, I am a high school English teacher in NJ for 4 years
teaching experience. My current salary is 48K. I am looking
to relocate to Maine within two years. My spouse will be a
first year high school English teacher at this point. What
can each of us expect as a salary in Southern Maine with at
that point six years experience and without a Masters. Does
tenure exist in Maine? What are teacher's health benefits
like? Our program in NJ allows for immediate coverage once
start in September. Also, is it reasonable for a young
couple with our salary expectations from teaching to own
their own home? Are teachers salaries sufficient to live off
of? Is Maine a good place to teach? Thank you so much for
any input you may be able to provide me with. I truly
appreciate any comments or suggestions anyone has to offer.
