Well I teach in maine, the retirement package is average of
the last 3 years of teachings salary, and you get double the
amount of years you have been teaching for the percentage of
that. IE... you make an average of $10,000 the last 3 years,
you have worked for 40 years so you get 80% of the $10,000.
They don't pay very much for insurance after you retire
though. Apparently it has been very difficult for some who
have just retired. To give you an idea on salary... I have
been teaching for 8 years and I'm just now making $32,3000...
NICE HUH. I do know that they raised starting teachers to a
minimum of $30,000. But how much more of that you get will
depend on the district.
