| More Teaching Jobs Like These... |
A few years ago (early 2008) I was getting a teeth cleaning done
at a community college through their dental education program. I
was discussing my job situation with the hygienist working on me
(how once I graduated there were no jobs) and she said the same
thing was happening to her. It took her a while to get through
the program and she was about to graduate and now the same thing
was happening with dental hygienist jobs - there were not a lot of
jobs and lot of candidates competing for them. Now, this is just
what one person told me, and things might have changed in the past
few years, although I would assume the job situation would have
gotten worse as our economy got worse. But I would definitely do
a lot of research before starting the program...
I also went to an info session for the nursing program at GVSU
last summer, and was told that even though there is still a
nursing shortage, the job situation is getting harder in that
area, as hospitals are cutting budgets and not hiring like they
used to. Though I'm sure there is still more hope for nurses than
teachers, its worth doing thorough research before starting any
program.
