I am a student at Spokane Community College. I have this
book of poetry by Charles Crabbe which was given to me by
my Mother just before she passed away. The book has no
identification other than is was published by T.Y. Crowell
& Co. on the spine. It is bound in green cloth and
embossed with the name Crabbe on the front cover and
Crabbe's Poems on the spine. It has gold inlay on cover,
spine and along the edges of the pages. It has 523 pages
in all and seems to have a complete set of Crabbes's
poetry. The book is signed by a Lillian Ingersol to one of
her students in the year June 12, 1891. No student name
mentioned
Doing a web search for Crabbe's poems returned little
information and specifically none about this particular
book publishing. What I came up with Lillian Ingersol's
name was she was born around 1863 and lived around Concord
or Dodge Minnesota. I am trying to find out if she taught
in these areas.
I am trying to find out if the book is an original. The
pages seemed to have been individually pressed with a red
border that crosses at the corners of each page. A lot of
work into publishing the book. I just can not find
information about it or the signer which is Lillian
Ingersol. Any information you might have on Lillian might
help me in the origin of the book.
Thank You!
