I...See MoreHi! My name is Nicole and I am a state certified Reading Specialist. Most of my background is in helping students & adults with dyslexia and moderate learning problems. However, I have time at the present to conduct tutoring sessions in the areas of language, reading, spelling, and written language for any aged student needing help.
I also run an independent Reading Clinic that is online, home based, and remote. My Reading Clinic is specified to intensive research based methods of instruction. When conventional methods don't work--I can help! My training and tutoring includes Orton-Gillingham techniques, which have been used over 75 years to help children with learning differences. My current Orton-Gillingham (multisensory) research based programs that are implemented in my tutoring sessions consist of: Touchphonics, Barton, Slingerland, Project Read, Seeing Stars, LIPS, and Logic of English Foundations. Direct instruction reading programs that are also implemented in my tutoring sessions consist of: Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading, Distar, and Funnix. Since I am trained and have sole ownership of these programs, your child has access to top notch, intensive reading instruction.
Students are matched up with a reading program based on their performance on an entry diagnostic evaluation that takes an hour. I currently administer the DAR (Diagnostic Assessment of Reading) due to the fact that it is suitable for all students in grades K-12 and gives valid and reliable information on the students current level of performance in all levels of literacy. The score report is shared with parents and a remediation plan is constructed in collaboration with the caregiver.
I like to keep parents as a key player in the tutoring and assessment sessions. Parents will be informed every step of the way and can even observe the sessions as long as it doesn't interfere. I sometimes collaborate with a child's classroom teacher so that tutoring instruction ties in with classroom instruction. I've been a consultant for students being evaluated by Special Education and participate in IEP meetings when requested. I am willing to go the extra mile to help students and usually don't charge extra to do so.
Please contact me if you think my tutoring services may be beneficial. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. I provide a RESUME, LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION, TRANSCRIPTS, TEACHING CERTIFICATE, and a copy of my passed BACKGROUND CHECK

Greetings my fellow Missourians! I am developing some educational materials for ESL/ESOL teachers and was wondering if you all would help me out by taking my survey. I would really appreciate it. Thank You!!
I've taught for one year at my school in KC, MO, and had the mandatory retirement taken out.
If I was to move to a different state, when can I pull that out, and will there be penalties? Can I leave it in for 5 years? If I can't, and pull it out, I only get back what I put in, not what is matched correct? Can I even get back what they took from me???
Lots of questions, but I'm young and new to this whole retirement thing.
This was a phonics program written by a teacher at what used to be the North Enid Elementary School. I believe that school is now the Chisholm School District.
