Re: Anyone ever used "Educational Placement Service"
Posted by Melanie on 9/23/06

I called and spoke with the gentleman but frankly, I think the service is unnecessary. Use
    www.schoolspring.com and moteaching.jobs and you'll see what's out there. If you don't
have a position, get your foot in the door by substituting. Go to your career services
department from where you graduated to get interview and resume help.
I have a decade and a half of experience and I didn't have any offers all summer. Then the
week before school started I had two. But there was precious little out there all summer long
and I checked daily. It seems to be a pretty tight job market right now. But, hang in there.
School districts that are working on bond issues in their elections may be trying to reduce
class size and get more teachers if the bond issue passes. The school districts won't have
much (unless a teacher has a spouse who transfers, someone gets ill, etc) until the Fall,
unless you are looking for T.A. or substitute positions. You may have to work outside of
your comfort zone to break in. I am in a different level than I previously taught in a school
district that I hadn't applied to, but they pulled my REAP application...lots of school districts
use this, so if you don't have one, get one soon.
    Good luck on your search.
