Post: "at will" state and what that means

Posted by concerned tired teacher on 2/23/09

I work at small urban KC charter schools. One is moving
buildings next year, and they are going to want us teachers
to help a lot with the move. I already know I'm not coming
back to the schools for many reasons, but hadn't planned on
letting them know that until my contract is up at the end of
July. i'm definitely not being paid enough to help a move a
whole art room, let alone the whole school. Does anyone
know what my obligations are in the summer, I know it should
be outlined in my contract, but it is fairly vague on the
subject. It states we are contracted august - july, and
have teaching obligations for the 180 day school year.

If I was to let them know I wasn't coming back, could they
just drop me at the end of May (to save them paying me for
june and july) since Missouri is "at will"?

    Thanks for any help.
