Re: Does anyone teach in Montana and love it?
Posted by Heidi on 11/24/07

My husband would like to move to a state where the pace is slower, and
where there is less possibility of a terrorist attack! We live in
Southern California, and I currently teach Kindergarten, plus I run my
own business (see the link below). (I write music to teach K with.)

It worries me to hear of people trashing Californians who move to
Montana! It seems like no matter where we move, someone is going to
not want us simply because we come from CA. I would expect the cost
of living to be lower, only because it is so darn high here. And I
know that I would take a giant pay cut, since I am at the top of the
pay scale here after 22 years of teaching.

My husband's main objection to living here is the terrible commute he
makes everyday to work. It is sometimes an hour and a half each way
(and it should take only 30 minutes, but for the traffic.) I do
expect this to be a huge adjustment for me, no matter where we go,
assuming this would be a rural location, and very different from here.

Are there any reassuring words out there?
    Heidi
