Re: Does anyone teach in Montana and love it?
Posted by Cristy on 9/22/07

Why is everyone so down on Montana? Few jobs actually pay well
there, including teaching. The cost of living is actually pretty
high compared to the average salary, in my experience (I grew up
there). Who is this Chris guy and has he even BEEN to MT??? There
are some pretty big towns in MT that are not 100 miles from the
nearest store. Few people live that isolated. Many young people
leave after they graduate, which is true for most rural places.
There is more room for growth elsewhere.

It's a very beautiful state and a lovely place to raise a family.
You probably won't strike it rich as a teacher in MT, but most
teachers aren't in it for the money anyway. Montanans are less
ignorant than you might think and there is nothing wrong with the
education I received in Missoula. Get over the "ignorant hick"
    stereotype.
