Funny I came across this question today, as I was researching
salaries in the state of NM this morning. I was under the
impression that the state sets the salaries but perhaps I am
wrong. I was only looking at Santa Fe and was APPALLED at the
base salary for a Tier I teacher. It was about $30,000/year.
That is absolutely insulting; you must teach under Tier I for
3 years (I believe) to advance to Tier II. After completing
at least a post-baccalaureate program AND passing exams, to
only be paid $30k for such a job is shameful.
I'll do some research on other areas...I really wanted to
consider a move to NM but no way can I live on $30k.
