In my county all of the school districts get their subs through a
consortium. If you want to sub in the district, you go to the office
fill out one set of papers, mark the districts that appeal to you, and
the office sends out all of the necessary papers to the districts you
indicated. You will then be contacted by the district where you will
sign an individual contract for that district. When you are approved
for subbing, you will be placed into a "subfinder" system. It is an
automatic system where schools enter the subs that they need and the
computer makes the calls. Or you can enter the system and search for
jobs. This systems has its pros and cons, but it is the only way in my
    county.
