My wife and I are considering relocating at the conclusion
of this school year. I have a BA in Music Education from
the University of Illinois and hold current Illinois and
Colorado Teaching Licenses (K-12 Music). I am currently in
my third year of teaching band and choir. My wife's degree
is in music performance. She has experience as a PERA, and
is currently completing an alternative certification
program while teaching Elementary Music. We currently live
in a small mountain town in Colorado. We are used to cold
weather and prefer cold weather to hot. We are pretty
active: we like to ski (cross-country, telemark, and
downhill), fish, hike, mountain bike and camp. We also
enjoy city life however (such as going to the opera,
theatre, symphony, fine dining, and wine tastings). We
would like to be somewhere where we have access to both.
One of the most difficult things about our current
situation is the cost of living compared to our salaries.
We would greatly appreciate any suggestions that you might
have as to good places to relocate to (especially if they
might need music teachers in 09-10!)
Thanks!
