    Post: Frustrated and need advice.

    Frustrated

    Posted on 8/14/09

I am certified in both New Hampshire and New Mexico in
English 7-12. (I grew up in New Hampshire.) I'm desperately
trying to obtain my RI certification, so I can move home.
I'd love to teach in an urban school district (Providence
perhaps?), but it seems I'm caught in the snag of the
    certification process.

This is my third year teaching, I've taken Praxis I and II,
but I've just learned that now I have to take the Principles
of Learning test to be certified in RI. Is this true? Praxis
I and II do not count towards my RI certification??

What is more, I've called the nearest testing center and it
seems as they do not offer this specific test. We've already
started our school year (this week!), so flying to RI to
test isn't feasible. I am working on my New Mexico Level II
license, but I can't turn in my Dossier until June, and I
was hoping to be certified in RI and interviewing by that
    point.

I'm frustrated beyond comprehension. I want nothing more
than to be working in RI Public schools, and it seems that
I'm continually hitting road blocks. I know it takes 4
months for the application process and I really wanted all
of this taken care of by January. What are your thoughts?
What if I can't find a way to take this test? My biggest
fear is moving to RI and not being in the classroom. I love
our profession so much that not being in the classroom would
    be devastating.

Thanks in advance for any and all insight.
