NB certification has no accountability attached. A teacher tells about
how good they are and they may be just that good. There is a great deal
of reflection... and by going through the process a teacher should be
better. At no time, is there a call for observations, assessment results
or any other accountability that is not influenced by the large increase
in salary that the teacher will be getting if they can say the right
things on their application.
I know at one time, the teachers that scored the applications were first
and second year teachers that might or might not have completed their
induction process. What proof do we really have that this process works?
I am sure that the NBC agency will say it works - they are getting a
large application fee per teacher. I have been surprise, well no I guess
that I am not really, that this bandwagon has been going this long. The
results are just not there.
