The Adept evaluation system according to the SCDE is unique
to SC, but my viewpoint of this system's "uniqueness" is
that it has been around for a long time and is a Trojan
horse type of uniqueness. Other than being highly
destructive, divisive, extremely costly and immoral the
ADEPT system has no other unique features or benefits. The
first objection I have against this system is that it
requires a teacher to submit to "voluntarily" giving up the
right to due process upon signing any teaching contract. I
think it is in the best interest of all SC teachers that
you do not sign another contract to teach in this state
until SCDE restores all of your due process rights. The
second objection I have against this system is that SCDE
has the policy of not allowing full disclosure to the
teacher before a contract is signed. "Do not tell them up
front" is the policy of SCDE not to allow a teacher to
fully know the actual terms and conditions of employment in
a SC classroom. The third objection I have against this
system is of allowing a school district to arbitrarily
select which teacher is to be subjected to a formal
evaluation. SCDE has established that the ADEPT evaluation
system must meet the standard of maximum freedom from bias.
Since it is fully apparent that the ADEPT evaluation system
is biased against the individual's right to due process, is
biased against a teacher actually knowing the terms and
conditions of employment, and is biased to allow a
district's discretionary selectivity of whom to evaluate
the ADEPT evaluation system needs to be relegated to the
scrap heap. For it is morally reprehensible to force any
individual in the USA to give up his/her right to due
process just to work. The ADEPT evaluation system is
undermining the very foundation of our untied belief for
the individual. If you agree with me call SCDE and tell
them that you endorse this position.
