Teacher Relocation Advice Please....

I am currently a teacher in NY (Long Island). I have been teaching 15 years and I would like to relocate to the Fort Mill, SC area. My salary, as well as my husbands,is currently extremely high and very difficult to walk away from. However with that said, I am tired of living in an over priced, over crowded, dirty, no hositality island. I have 3 kids 11, 10 and 5 and I want the most opportunities for them. Our schools here are cutting everything and there is practically nothing left. I am looking for some advice on whether or not you think it would be worth it for us to relocate to SC. I am concerned that with the trememdous pay cut we would take that our salaries in SC would not support a comfortable lifestyle? And, if you think there are other areas that we should be looking in please advise. Thank you :)
