I did not know it would be so difficult either. TN Dept of
Ed lost my paperwork and said that I did not send it in.
Coming from CA I made sure that I had done all of my running
around before I left. I kept calling and finally I got
someone that listened to me and thought about it. She had
me call her back in 45 minutes. Sure enough, she found my
entire packet with everything in it.
My husband got a job here, as well. I have my CA Prelim,
Professional Clear, BS and MS in my subject matter area. I
taught for Knox County and cannot do it anymore. It is very
difficult to get into other districts. I spoke with a very
nice person with Maryville City Schools and she calculated
that their teachers stay on average 25 years! I wish I
had found this site before moving out here. I would try Oak
Ridge, Maryville City, Anderson County, Lenior City, Loudon
County and Alcoa. Depending on far you want to drive, you
can look at surrounding districts. Go to http://www.k-
12.state.tn.us/weblinks/showmedistricts.asp for a listing of
school districts and their websites. I am even thinking
about taking a couple more classes here just to try to get
and make more contacts.
Good luck to you and keep me posted. I like to hear when
people get in. It gives me hope!!!
