Hello all. First I want to say thank you inadvance for any
help you may give. Here's my situation. I am a teacher in
Michigan that is guaranteed to be laid off in June with
little possibility of being called back. The district I
work for is literally closing half of its schools and of
course cutting its owrkforce accordingly. Since I was just
hired August 08 I can se the writing on the wall. Also
like a lot of Michganders my dear husband worked fora
supplier to GM and was just laid off last Friday with no
possiblity of being called back. The company is closing
its doors. So here we are looking at neither one of us
having a job come June so we are exploring our options
elsewhere. Are there projections for jobs in Tennesee, I'm
certified English and History secondary and 2/3rds way
done with my Master's in special ed/ cognitive impairments
(mentally retarded)? What is it like living down there?
Cost of living? I have never lived anywhere but Southeast
Michigan so I am apprehensive but I know what has to be
done.
Thanks again for any help.
Lorretta
