Re: Loudon County Teachers Needed IMMEDIATELY for channel 9
Posted by Go to the LCPS Math Investigation Meetings on 2/26/08

Go to the Loudoun Math Investigation meetings. There have been a few
already and parents have been very upset about the MI program. See
link! I am sure you will find plenty of parents who would speak up
    there.

Parent Information Meetings on Elementary Math Program

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has scheduled five information
meetings for interested parents and guardians of students in grades
    kindergarten through five.

During these meetings LCPS staff will describe the reasons the school
system is piloting two ways to implement the Investigations program in
our elementary math programs. The Investigations program emphasizes
student engagement and problem solving through the use of “inquiry
    activities.”

Investigations is being used as the primary math program in a small
number of LCPS elementary schools. In the other elementary schools, a
blended approach has been implemented that provides instruction from the
textbook and two units of Investigations per marking period.

The meetings will include information from the research available about
Investigations and a description of the outcomes LCPS will measure in
deciding how the Investigations program will be implemented in the
future. Staff also will offer ideas for how parents can support their
children’s efforts in either math program.

The five informational meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end no later
than 8 p.m. Interested parents may attend an informational meeting at
