In years past, my children marched in Veterans Day
parades as part of Cub Scout and other organizations.
I wasnt there to see them...I had school.
Absolutely shameful that schools do not annually
observe Veterans Day.

My biggest outrage: We are mandated seemingly
under penalty of law to incorporate the life and
achievements of Martin Luther King into our classes
each
MLK day, yet nothing, and I mean nothing, comes from
our administration and school board with regard to
Veterans Day.
I make it a point every Veterans Day and Dec. 7th Pearl
Harbor Day to relate to my classes the history, the
meaning, the relevance, the honor due the men and
women who sacrificed their lives for our country. I
spend
EVERY class period on those days "lest we forget."
I also write to the administration every year asking why
Veterans Day is so callously "overlooked." Never a
reply!!

Day. I wouldn't say that observing MLK's birthday is
considered mandatory by administrators at least not in the
public school setting. Be proud of what you do for VFW and
