Interestingly enough, we have been looking at moving to the
Olympia area because the taxes are lower and housing costs a
bit more reasonable than up towards Seattle, where we are
currently located. For teachers, I'd say the good thing
about the Olympia area is that there are several school
districts, the area is growing, the state union is strong. I
heard that the Thurston School District just passed their
levy and they are hiring... However, everywhere in the state
gas is about $4.89 a gallon now, so you will not want much
of a commute. I'd say do some web research on rents and
every school district has a web site with openings posted.
    Good luck!
