Economics Wisconsin, in conjunction with the UW Whitewater
Center for Economic Education, will host a one day
financial literacy conference for K-12 teachers on October
17 at Sundance Cinemas in Madison. The conference,
entitled “Money Talks: Speaking to Students about Everyday
Econ and Personal Finance,” will take place during Money
Smart Week Wisconsin, a financial literacy campaign
created by the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy.
The conference will feature five speakers, including Dave
Mancl, Director of the Office of Financial Literacy,
Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. Mancl will
give an overview of the local and national financial
literacy movement. Additional presentations include Health
Care 101, Credit Crisis, Teachers Can Be Millionaires Too,
and Food Prices, Inflation, & Government Policy:
Understanding Current Events Using Supply & Demand
