Our campus uses iClicker as a student response system for those that want to use it. I am considering using Top Hat which does not use a clicker, but instead students can use their smart phone, iPad, or laptop to log onto the class site and interact with the professor who can integrate their PowerPoint and other documents into the Top Hat system.

Instead of buying a clicker, the students pay $20 per course for on-line access.

Does anyone have experience with student response systems-- especially Top Hat?

I am sort of skeptical when it comes to software for educators...we have a tendency to be impressed by demos without checking to see if the real systems work as advertised.
