I'm new to this site and I'm hoping I can get some insight from fellow MD teachers.
I'm currently a teacher on the Eastern Shore of MD. I teach at a Middle School that serves an incredibly difficult population. Nearly 60&37; of the students are economically disadvantaged, and the city that my school serves are filled with drugs and many other crimes. This crime has spread into our school, and many of the students are participating, and worse yet, getting away with it due to the failure of the law.
I love teaching. My administration and coworkers are absolutely amazing, but all in all, the students here make me miserable. Instead of teaching, I have to worry about drug deals and some times things that are even worse.
I am looking to move across the bridge and relocate in Annapolis, because many of my fellow college grads live there. I was wondering if anybody knew of any great school systems to teach for on the Western Shore, or perhaps a private school that I could apply for. Basically, as many teachers, I'm looking for that job were I love to go to work. If anybody knows of great schools or counties to work in on the western shore of MD, any help would be great.

I am hired .5 as a general educator, and .5 as a special educator. I recently found out that my special education position is being cut, which means I am involuntarily going from full-time to part-time. I recently found out that my special education position is being cut, which means I am involuntarily going from full-time to part-time. The school I am at wants to keep me part-time, and says I will have to get another .5 at a different school. Thus, go back and forth to 2 schools each day. After reaching out to my union, and having no one return my emails/calls, I am still confused about my options for next year. I really do not want to be split between 2 schools. I am also not tenured, but the county has made an exception to give me priority transfer. I would like to know if I will be able to transfer to another school full-time, or if I will be forced to keep this .5 position. I also would like to know if the priority transfer would have to be a special ed. position since that's what was cut. I am so confused! Any help is appreciated.
I have decided to reign before the start of the school year. I am mentally not suitable or ready to accept the position. I know you can resign at anytime from a position. Does anyone know what the sanctions are for such a decision?

Hello! I need to take courses for recertification in MD. Any tips on cheap and fast ways to do this? Left it too long because I have a high-maintenance, special needs child. No $$ with one of those in the house. Thanks!

I will be teaching Spanish next February at a catholic school. I need to look at the curriculum in MD schools. Does anyone knows where I can find such information?

Hello...I am a tenured teacher in PG County. I have been attempting to transfer for over years with no success...evaluations good and supported by administrators and principal. However, I continue to see that they are recruiting and hiring outside the county. Wondering if I should just resign by the July 15th deadline.
