I am hired .5 as a general educator, and .5 as a special educator. I recently found out that my special education position is being cut, which means I am involuntarily going from full-time to part-time. The school I am at wants to keep me part-time, and says I will have to get another .5 at a different school. Thus, go back and forth to 2 schools each day. After reaching out to my union, and having no one return my emails/calls, I am still confused about my options for next year. I really do not want to be split between 2 schools. I am also not tenured, but the county has made an exception to give me priority transfer. I would like to know if I will be able to transfer to another school full-time, or if I will be forced to keep this .5 position. I also would like to know if the priority transfer would have to be a special ed. position since that's what was cut. I am so confused! Any help is appreciated.
