I've been hired in Maryland by a non-profit to teach teenage
students once a week. The institution does not want to sign
a contract or to do a background check on me -- all they
want are my tax forms and will be issuing me a 1099. Should
I be worried about this? Generally when I've taught in other
states, I've had to sign a contract and agree to a
background check. Does anyone know what the laws are in
Maryland? Should I be suspicious of this organization? Any
advice or suggestions would be appreciated!
