We Need Charter Schools

I think we should have charter schools to force accountability on the many useless teachers we have in our state who are apathetic toward student learning. The WVEA and AFT should actually endorse charter schools instead of being so defiant about the issue. I've had it with the WVEA. In June, I am dropping my membership once and for all. My daughter has a useless teacher who is in education just for the paycheck (while not much) and her benefits. My daughter constantly complains about how the class is out of control and how they don't do any meaningful learning. I am sure charter schools would correct this problem. It's a shame the unions are in it for the teachers and NOT the kids. BTW, I am a teacher.

Joyce Every time a teacher writes a student for a discipline referral for foul language, disrespect or any negative behavior warranted for a negative consequence, I believe the administrator must report this to WVEIS. I would imagine someone at the Department of Education is monitoring the offenses and the frequency of certain offenses, especially severe...See More

Zookeeper That's the reason most discipline problems never make it to the WVEIS screen. It does reflect poorly on the school, principal, and county. Thus, these behaviors are ignored and kids and teachers are left out there alone. The monkeys are running the zoos!

the truth I am on our school's LSIC because of the reports our administration was sending into the state. Last year, at our high school, they reported a TOTAL OF 2 skippers for the entire year.
