This is a subject that I need to vent about.
Yes, we as teachers should be accountable
for the content and manner in which we
teach our children. We all know of
teachers who do not do their jobs. But the
majority of teachers are hard-working,
creative people with the best interests of
the children in mind. But day after day I
see children who come to school unkempt,
dirty, hungry, arriving thirty minutes to
two hours late with the excuse, "My mother
forgot to wake me up." Children whose
parents do not help them with school work
or read to them or come to parent teacher
conferences, or even bother to look at
their child's work really burns me up!
Don't have kids if you're not going to take
care of them!! I also have parents who
have to practically be threatened by the
truant officer in order for them to send
their children to school consistently,
rather than three out five days of the
week. Do we need parent accountability?
