Alternative Teacher Certification

Greetings all! I have a burning question that I have been spending hours researching but I am having some trouble gaining a clear understanding of the process.

I am currently a High School Guidance Counselor overseas where my Master's in Psychology satisfies the requirements for Guidance Counseling. I have gained a passion for the field and would like to continue in this path in my resident state of GA. Since the education requirements in GA to become a Guidance Counselor requires that I earn a Master's in Counseling I have decided to first earn an alternative teacher certification and gain some classroom experience prior to pursuing the Counseling degree. My question is, can anyone give me some insight on what the process is for earning an alternative teaching certification in Georgia.
