My name is Samina, I am a 3rd-year university student studying Design. I hope to become an art teacher in the future and thought speaking to an experienced art teacher would be beneficial to learn more about teaching. I was hoping someone on this page might be available this week to participate in a 10-20 minute interview about art education and teaching.
If you are available this week and up for the interview please let me know and we can arrange a zoom call, I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Hi Teachers, I've started a resource on YouTube for you called "Art Stories", inspirational short films I make for other artists, art audiences, students, and teachers.
If you like, them please subscribe, and I will make more....
Hi everyone, Can anyone direct me to research about the frequency of taking art classes in high school? I am not looking for the benefits to overall education or for other classes but more specifically about building and mastering skills in art.
I am taking my art test once again. Any pointers on the constructed response? I have taken this test a few times and changed up my constructed response every time, but still scoring exactly the same?

Hi everyone. This is my first year teacher middle school on my own. I will be doing 6th separately and 7- 8 mixed. I was wondering what a good first project or first day work activity would be good to do. I want it also to be a way to get to know the students. I'm sweating bullets. Also, what should I look out for on the first day.

The way I do it is depending on the size of your portfolio you give them all the same size circle to trace on to the paper the circle should be pretty large but fit within the paper but be the main thing on the paper. For my students I have them trace the top of their stool because the paper we use is very large but you can use any size paper based on the size portfolio you would like to do. What's really great about this project is that you can see the kids artistic ability and their creativity and usually it shows a little bit about what they like based on what they choose to do with the circle they also must include their name in the design. the cool thing is they can do anything they want with a circle they can make it a doughnut, a rollercoaster, a hot air balloon, a pumpkin, a pocket watch anything they want to do and it's so cool to see all the different ideas come through and to see how their artistic ability is different and just to see so many variations all using the exact same circle and the exact same size paper and they're all so different and it's a really really cool project they absolutely love it I have had a 100% success rate I have never had a kid not into it they really love it because they have so much freedom to make whatever they want within the confines of using that circle so I think that is a really awesome 1st day project and really it takes them at least a week to finish it because they put a lot of effort into it you can use color pencils markers whenever you like to do to colored in but they really really love it and they take their time and they make it look nice and it's such a great project so I would highly highly recommend it I also have them sketch out 3 different ideas first that way they have options if it turns out two people want to do the same thing, but that rarely happens.
