I just took the 120 hour TEFL course with gettefl. They are sooo great! I really enjoyed this course and learned many practical teaching techniques.
Please help me. I need good English teacher. I was learning with a School but it was very bad. I went to Morgan School in San Benedetto del Tronto, but this School was very low quality in teaching. I paid a lot of money for a terrible course. Morgan school lied to me about their course and they did not give the training that they advertised and pro...See More
justin I'm very sorry to hear about your bad experience. Some schools in Italy can be quite desperate to make money, especially in the south and in the smaller towns. This is why you might be cheated and lied to about the courses. Morgan schools are a new franchise and network in Italy. The school in San Benedetto del Tronto is quite new, so the director ...See More
I hace taught abroad multiple times and I am so fed with the "discussions" on job advice boards! Many start with "My name is Marie from Sierra Leone. I speak English very well, like a native. I have 3 of teaching math here but my country is not good now is too dangerous. Where is a good job?". Anyone saying that you would have issues hired or getti...See More
Just finished an EBook about teaching ESL in Costa Rica. Great read! It's on Amazon.com called Teaching ESL Costa Rica Style or something like that.
Teach away is a legitimate company but they have some very questionable business practices. They do not always stand behind their teachers or help them with issues once the teachers get into country. I registered Nov 2011 and had my initial interview with Una Reid who explained to me that she would be in contact concerning jobs for which I had appl...See More

Sumi Everything said here is 100% true. I wish I had read this posts before I took the job with alhammad. After 5 years its still the same issues and worse. Please warn people before they take a job with this company. I had a horrible experience with them and just happy I got out. They do not care about there employees. People please do research before ...See More

Anyone else think the ACCESS grade 1 reading test is way too difficult for first graders to actually read, even those reading at grade level? They can barely decode it (my state tests in January, so they've only had a few months of first grade), so how can comprehension be truly evaluated? And then the writing requirement is so simple. It seems lik...See More
Hi! I need to set up a pen pal system for my third graders. Any help on how to do that? Anyone interested in swapping student email addresses?
"There is no equality of treatment merely by providing students with the same facilities, textbooks, teachers, and curriculum; for students who do not understand English are effectively foreclosed from any meaningful education".........The United States Supreme Court, Lau v. Nichols.

This case reaffirms that all students in the United Sta...See More

Does anyone have any ideas of a summer program or a computer program that might benefit an ELL to continue to work with language over the summer while school isn't in session? My ELL is a unique case, he came from China as a boy, and he had a cleft palate along with hearing issues, so his vocabulary is very limited. He technically has no first lang...See More
momof5 I first wonder how old the child is because I have a student (K) whose sister (high school) attended English classes at a local library. She taught her younger sister.

I would suggest ABCYA.com it is free but they might want to start with pre k no matter what the age to get the basics. I also suggest hooked on phonics. I don't know where ...See More

drobs Thank you, Donna, for your reply! He has been working with a speech therapist for a long time, and he will likely get speech services for as long as he is in school. He gets them all year long. He knows what the basic sounds are, he just has a hard time making them accurately due to his circumstances. He absolutely needs vocabulary work. It is also...See More
