With Reading First we have been taught to use so many centers and were never provide the materials. Four Blocks seems interesting and as a first grade teacher I would like to try it. What is 4 Blocks in a nutshell?

I have a good brief on 4-Blocks at my website: [link removed]!
Is two months enough of a chance? Can I go back to 4B now? My admin will be okay with it as long as my students show progress at the end of the year. If it works, they won't complain... and I have established with my admin that I know what I am doing.
I am another Canadian gal. I think I can help you, as I am familiar with both programs. It might be easier if I talked to you by phone. If you e- mail me and give me your phone number, I will call you. I know exactly what you are talking about!
I have adapted the program a lot (I don't do all 5 things per day) but I definitely teach the independence part the same way that they do. It's made a huge difference in my reading workshop time.
1. Tune up your car usually. Poor operating condition eats up much more gasoline.
2. Plan your route ahead of time. This avoids taking pointless driving.
3. Use your aircon sparingly. You can flip the aircon on to get a few minutes then flip it off and allow the fan circulate the cool air within the car. Don't open the windows whenever you aircon is on.
4. Maintain the windows closed when travelling at high pace for much less air friction. Open windows drag the pace and lower gas mileage.
5. Don't idle your engine for long intervals of time.
6. Don't travel at fast speeds in reduced gears unless of course you'll need the compression to sluggish down.
7. Try driving on permitted speed restrict.
8. Don't rev the engine when not essential.
9. When the price for gasoline is higher, don't fill up. Wait till it goes down. You do not wish to give an impression to oil companies that you are prepared to pay for gasoline at any price.
10. Lastly, purchase autos which have great gasoline mileage.
Hi all, I am thinking of revamping my rdg time to 4 Blocks. How do you incorporate the reading series? We use Scott Foresman Reading Street...I'm 2nd grade. We are required to utilize the basal to it's full extent, but I want a more structured time/block. Thoughts?
